Chile

One half of our dynamic duo hails from this long thin country. Anai (aka Chilli) was born and raised in Chile, moving to Australia in her mid-twenties. Monique travelled Chile in her early twenties as a part of an South, Central and North American backpacking adventure. Side note-  Monique actually went to Chile the same year that Chilli relocated to Australia. We had not met yet, but figured out years later that we travelled to each others countries within a few weeks of each other. Creepy right.

We both had such different experiences in Chile so when we decided to return in 2015 to visit family and do a bit of sightseeing, it was a new and exciting adventure for us both. For Chilli, this was a homecoming, after not seeing her extended family for 5 years. For Monique, this was an adventure, albeit a scary one. Remember when you first met your in-laws? How was it? Now imagine that you’re meeting them for the first time in a foreign country and in a language that you have not yet mastered. Scary, but exciting. We were both looking forward to seeing a bit of the country that we had not before ventured to, as well as hitting some of our favorite places in Chile. Mission accomplished! We had a great time in Chile and have written a few short articles to help you navigate this crazy, and at times difficult, country.
